Alex graduated from Farragut High School and went on to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he discovered his passion for Lacrosse. He played on two Southeastern Lacrosse champion teams and later coached them to two more. Later, he became a respected referee from middle school to the collegiate level. Known in the lacrosse community as "The Eagle" due to an unfortunate instance of bed head during his collegiate years, he was inducted into the Southeastern Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2017. He also coached football at the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity levels, his teams obtaining numerous Knox Co. and state championships.
Alex was an Eagle Scout with Troop 16 in Knoxville and held numerous leadership roles up to Asst. Scoutmaster. He was a Vigil Honor member in the Order of the Arrow, a scouting service organization, and spent his college summers in leadership roles at Camp Buck Toms.
Alex's honest, affable nature led him to a career in sales, starting with Home Depot, Tall & Big Shop, industrial belting suppliers Rubber Plus and Carolina Belting, and finally with Barrett Roofing in Knoxville and Nashville.
Alex is survived by his brother, William Eric White, of Maryville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 18, at Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Dr., in Knoxville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the UT’s lacrosse team in memory of Alex's passion and dedication to the sport.
