James Kenton Grooms

James Kenton Grooms of Knoxville, departed this world to a better place on October 26, 2023. He was born in Henry County, TN to Audie and Bailey Grooms on July 29, 1934. Kent, as he was called, attended Memphis State University, and ultimately graduated with a civil engineering degree from the University of Tennessee. He also acquired a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from UT. He was an entrepreneur at heart and used his education, creative mind, and work ethic for many business endeavors throughout his life. However, real estate was his primary career. He married Vivian Bradford in 1954 and they were blessed with two sons and a daughter. He was a long-standing faithful member of the Church of Christ, attending Norwood Church of Christ and more recently Hardin Valley Church of Christ. Preceded in death by parents; two brothers; Merritt and Joe; and sister, Lettie. Survived by his wife, Vivian; son, Steve Grooms and wife, Cindy; son, Jeff Grooms and wife, Michelle; daughter, Carol Woody and husband, Spencer, and grandchildren, Corey Grooms, Brady Grooms, Tanner Grooms and McKenna Woody.

Services will be Monday, October 30th at Norwood Church of Christ 6001 Central Ave. Pk. Knoxville, TN 37912 with visitation at 6:00 PM and service to follow at 7:00 PM.
