Jack Taylor Oak Ridge, TN Jack Rodney Taylor, age 87, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in Oak Ridge. He was a Christian of Baptist faith. Jack attended Polk Co. High School in Benton, TN. After attending UT, he served as Sgt. in the Army in the "278th Regimental Combat Team" during the Korean conflict. After retiring from the Oak Ridge Plants (34 years), he did extensive traveling both nationally and worldwide. He was an avid sailplane and power plane pilot until his later years. A member of Bright Hope Lodge #557 F&AM for 50 years. Preceded in death by son, James E. Taylor; parents, Fate and Mae Taylor; all siblings named in order of birth, Edna, Inez, Archie, Chassie, Anna Reba, R.L., Frank A., Roy G., and Joe Van. Survivors: wife, Margie Taylor (Searles) of 32 years, Oak Ridge; children: son, David Taylor, Knoxville; daughters, Carolyn Taylor, Greenville and Sheila Walker (Freddie), Lenoir City; grandchildren, Matthew Taylor, Tonya Lauth (Corey), and Amanda Taylor; great-grandson, Griffin Lauth, all of Knoxville; mother of children, Evelyn Taylor, Knoxville; also several nieces and nephews. The family would like to especially thank caregivers Cheri and Joy. The family will have a private interment at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
