Memories of Uncle Herman are always of his quiet reassuring presence.  He showed a lovely sense of humor with a penchant for one liners.  But what I remember most lives are on in the love and respect that Uncle Herman’s children have for their Dad.  Dearly loved;deeply missed.

Dear Family,
Uncle Herman died on this day, June 17, 2021, I think about him almost daily.  My Dad (JH Boutwell, Jr) loved Herman and felt very comfortable with him.  My Dad was not a social butterfly in any sense.  He was usually quiet.  The memory I want to share is this:  my Dad, hands in pockets, side by side with Uncle Herman.  They were both laughing out loud with huge grins on their faces.  Says it all,

My dear Uncle Herman died on this day last year.  I will always remember him as a man of thorough thought, careful action and understated and sly humor.  I considered him a “ Sweetie” although I never told him that I know he is now aware.  Love you always, dear Herman.

    I HAVE JUST LEARNED OF HERMAN'S PASSING---WAS OUT OF TOWN AND DID NOT SEE OBITUARIES WHICH I CHECK DAILY.

A forever memory....meeting at Herman and Ann's home in Huntington to discuss the formation of FBC.   Herman was an excellent example of a man who dedicated himself to his Lord.   To Ann and family...grieve not.  He is singing with the angels.   

I met Herman and Ann while attending Grace Baptist Church.  So happy when they moved to Knoxville, and they were always so loving and caring to myself and my daughter, Stephanie.   One of the special memories I have of Herman was on Christmas when he would read the Christmas story to all the family.  He was so loving of his family and especially loved the Lord.  I am so happy for him, to be with Jesus right now!

I remember Herman well. What a great man of God. We came to see them for my 50th school reunion, Ann sure cooked up a good meal for us. We stayed one night, and on to the highway. Herman gave me directions how to get to Knoxville. I said OK Herman. I believe he was instrumental in me leading the music in their revival years ago. And they loved to go square dancing.  Lots of good memories. He sure loved Ann a lot.

My daddy, my forever HERO, thank you for teaching, leading and guiding me always towards Jesus! My love of travel is because of you loading us up in the car and "head out" to the most AMAZING places across USA. The way you loved my momma was so very special for me to watch. The way you played with my Michelle and Michael are some of my most treasured memories. The legacy you have left for my grandchildren, Trey, Kylee, Harlee and Maeson will continue to live on for many generations. Thank you daddy for being a spiritual leader to our family! I am so thankful for the promise of heaven and being reunited with you. I love you daddy!

Ann and family:  Herman  was always  my favorite in the pool..He would casually splash my back  in teasing!  Rest in peace, dear man..love and hugs to Ann who was also a favorite. of mine.  Linda Goodwin

To The Family
I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Herman passing. Prior to his declining health, I looked forward to seeing him and his lovely wife,  Mrs. Ann coming through the doors of Grace Baptist Church on Sunday mornings. It was a pleasure to greet this wonderful couple who always had a warm greeting in return. There is no doubt, Mr. Herman loved the Lord, his family and the church. Lee Ann, my prayers are with you and your family. May God continue to keep his loving arms around each of you during and beyond this difficult time.

Dad Herman,  Your kindred spirit mingled  with the Love of your Savior made me feel like family when I traveled  with your family.  Your whistle was timely and on point and I was never lost. Someday I’ll walk through the gate as you did. Watch for me. Give a whistle. I’ll come running. Love, Your Adopted Daughter #3 , Shelby 

Prayers for the family of Herman Moore.  Our families were neighbors for many years and I used to babysit Tommy, David, and LeAnn. So saddened for Ann, their children, and grandchildren. Praying for their comfort.

So many child hood memories . I knew if Leeann was with me and her Daddy whistled it was time for us to come in ... that was the best ! A great family and his love was noticed  RIP Herman Moore. Prayers for Ann ,Leeann and the entire family .

Uncle Herman, the man who garnered Annie’s love and was a mighty example of soldier, husband, father and Christian.  And above all he was a follower in His footsteps.  I knew him since I was a little girl and always looked forward to his quiet, steady  presence when we visited.  

We rejoice with the family and weep with them for our loss.  God bless you all.

We were so blessed by our friendship with Herman.  We were in two Grace Baptist Church small groups with Ann and Herman. We learned something each week from Herman about the Bible.  Herman was very knowledgeable regarding the Bible. He was truly a servant of God and leaves an admirable legacy behind.  We can not say enough good things about Herman.  He was such a wonderful example of a Christian.  We will be praying for his dear sweet wife Ann and the entire Moore family.  Herman we will miss you.
