Halmond served two years during the Korean war in the Army. He supported the VFW and DAV for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Lillie Mae Hicks Davis, and Charlie Davis; sisters; Hattie Powell, Mary, Powell, Peggy Davis Johnson, Myrtle Davis Zachary; brother; Roy Davis, and daughter; Debra Davis Bernard.
Halmond is survived by wife of 70 years, Bonnie Young Davis; son Bruce (Tonya) Davis; grandchildren Tony Bernard, Matthew (Emily) Davis and Elana Bernard.
There will be receiving of friends and family at Berry’s Funeral Home in the parlors, located at 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, Tennessee on July 8, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm. A committal service with military honors will be held on July 9, 2024, at 10 am at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.
