George G Harris

George Gilliam Harris, age 87, passed away on June 11, 2016. Mr. Harris was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, Powell, and a 1947 graduate of Knoxville High School. Before retiring from the Knoxville News Sentinel in 1987 as the City Circulation Manager, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, in which he was honorably discharged in 1952. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Annie Harris; wife Mary Ruth Carmen Farmer Harris, and sister JoAnn Henry. Survivors include his children: George E. Harris and wife Susan, Steven A, Harris and wife Pam and daughter Sandra K. Case and husband Deryl; grandchildren: Rusty Beal, Jennifer Evans, Karen Luttrell and Roger and Tim Easterday; great grandchildren: Miles, Logan and Clara. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-8 pm in the chapel of Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home. A private Graveside service will be held at a later date.
