George Burgess Jr.

George Henry Burgess, Jr., age 68, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was surrounded by his loving family as he transitioned from this life to his eternal home. He retired from KUB after 35 years of service. George enjoyed coaching soccer with the AYSO Region 337. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, loved television oldies and caring for his fur baby, Deuce. George was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Patricia Burgess and daughter, Amy Carter. Survived by sons, Derrick (Jenny) Carter-Burgess, David Carter, Philip Cain (Lisa) of South Carolina; and daughter, Annie Carter; grandchildren, Isaiah and Mitchell Carter (Haley) of Knoxville, Mary Ellen Appel of North Carolina, Zach and Macy Cain of South Carolina; great grandchildren, Ruby and Dean Carter; parents, George and Barbara Burgess of Maryville; brothers, Dennis Burgess of Maryville, Scott (Marilyn) Burgess of Oak Ridge; sister, Sarah (Phil) Moffett of Greenback. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Friday, May 24, 2024 at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Dr. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm.
