Flo Lee DeLozier Barnes, age 98, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022. Flo Lee was a longtime member of Meridian Baptist Church. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee. She retired from teaching at South Knoxville Elementary after 33 years.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, George Barnes Jr.; brothers, Dr. Oliver DeLozier and Dr. Joseph DeLozier; sister, Jean DeLozier McCall; brother-in-law, Jack Barnes; sister-in-law, Irene Barnes Hillard; mother and father, Mae Flanagin DeLozier and Alton Oliver DeLozier; nephews, Alton "Bud" Oliver DeLozier III, John Wells DeLozier.
She leaves behind her daughters, Elizabeth "Libby" Barnes Griffin (Fred), and Jeanne Barnes Bryant (Steve); grandsons, David (April) and Alexander Bryant; great-grandchildren, Jadyn, Haley and Brandon Bryant; great-great granddaughter, Ameera Bryant; sister-in-law, Patsy Barnes; nieces, Jody Hilliard Roach, Larah McCall McConkey, Amy DeLozier Zarra, Ann DeLozier Gibbs, and Betsy DeLozier; nephews, Mike and Frank McCall, Dr. Joseph DeLozier III; honorary grandson, Griffin Spotz; as well as many beloved great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Flo Lee particularly enjoyed her Sunday school class and all of her friends at Meridian Baptist Church over the last 70 years. Until April of this year, she maintained her house and car, insisted on her independence, and was a force of nature to all who knew her.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 - 1:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM, Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet at Shiloh Cemetery, 118 Henderson Road, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863 for a 3:00 PM interment following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meridian Baptist Church.
