Evelyn Louise Hood Muldowny

Muldowny, Dr. Evelyn Louise Hood, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a longtime resident of Knoxville, Tennessee and a graduate of Young High School Class of 1949. Evelyn graduated as a Registered Nurse from Fort Sanders School of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Tennessee on December 18, 1970 graduating with high honors. Evelyn served several years on the Administration Staff of St. Mary’s Hospital. While at St. Mary’s, she established the first Pre-Admission Clinic, AM Admission Unit, and One-Day Surgery Unit. She later attended the University of Tennessee and received a Doctoral Degree in the College of Education. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Haven Oliver and Dora Jordan Hood; and sister, Alyce Ann Hood Gibbs. She is survived by sons Steven Michael Muldowny of Roswell, Georgia and Dr. David Scott Muldowny and wife, Susie of Lafayette, Louisiana; grandchildren: Laura Ann, Taylor Scott, Caroline Marie, Jennifer Claire, William David, and Elizabeth Ann Muldowny; sister, Helen Juanita “Polly” Hood Lee; brother-in-law, James P. Gibbs; former husband, Dr. John Muldowny; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Evelyn’s name to the American Cancer Society. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 W. Vine Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee with the Funeral Rites to follow at 10:00 AM, Father Jerry Tulley officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Muldowny, Dr. David Muldowny, Buddy Lee, Dr. Rick Lee, Taylor Muldowny, and William Muldowny. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
