David Allen Shannon

David Allen Shannon, age 70, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on February 16, 2021. David was raised in Oak Ridge and Knoxville and was a member of Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church in Karns, TN. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. After receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in Animal Science, he became a College Professor at Hiwassee College, then North Arkansas College and Arkansas Tech University and was also a County Extension Agent in Blountstown, FL. He later worked for Homeland Security for U.S. Customs and Border Protection based in Miami, FL and later in Charlotte, NC. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean Shannon. Survived by his loving wife of 30 years Nancy Shannon; son, Jonathan Shannon; sister and brother-in-law Melinda and Alan Davis; niece, Emily Hudson; brother-in-law and wife Steve Parker and Joline Black. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 pm Wednesday with the funeral service to follow at 2 pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Dr. The interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev.
