TURNER, CHARLES WESLEY SR. – Age 88 of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord on February 22nd, 2013. He was a true man of faith, who loved God with all of his heart. He dedicated his life to serving God, serving and sacrificing for his wife and family, and serving his fellow man. He left a legacy of people who called him the nicest and kindest man they’d ever met. He had an amazing life of accomplishments, including serving his country in Burma in WWII, and a 49-year career with the Woolworths Corporation in which he travelled the world and had remarkable experiences. He is preceded in death by wife Bunny Sue Turner, daughter Sharon Turner, father Charles Edward Turner, mother Gertrude Gilliam Turner. Survivors include: son Charles and Leigh Turner, son Mark and Bronwen Turner, daughter Kathryn and Ray Heath, son Stephen and Laura Turner. Sisters Mary Louise Turner, Drucilla Murphy, nieces Diane Brady and Patricia Handy, and great niece Tammy Emmerling. Grandchildren: Eric Turner, Donna Piercy and husband Gavin Piercy, Rachel Jonas, Rebekah Leatherwood, Jonathan Heath and wife Lindsay Heath, Michelle Heath, Micah Turner, Matthew Turner, Christian Turner and wife Sierra Turner, and Tanya Turner. His great-grandchildren: Suttree Jonas and Micah Jonas, as well as a large group of wife Bunny’s family whom he dearly loved. Receiving of family and friends will be on Monday, February 25th, from 5:30-7:00pm at Weaver Funeral Home with a funeral service following.
