Carl Douglas "Doug" Townsend, age 80, of Seymour, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. A member of Eusebia Presbyterian Church, he will be remembered for his fun loving attitude and great sense of humor. Doug always enjoyed life, friends and family. He was quick with a joke, and ready to travel at a moment's notice. Doug was never happier than when holding his great-granddaughter, Walker. He retired after many years as a superintendent in the construction industry. Doug was an avid trapshooter, and a member of ORSA (Oak Ridge Sportsman's Association) where he made many friends over the years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Carl Madison Townsend and Anna Mae (Johnson) Townsend.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Sandra McMurray Townsend; son, Russ Townsend (Melissa); grandson, Jacob Townsend (Peyton); great-granddaughter, Walker Townsend; and sister, Carolyn Duncan (Ronnie).
Family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 PM Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville TN 37920, with a funeral service to follow at 4:00 PM.
