Butler Daniel Roberts

Beloved Robert’s Patriarch; Butler Daniel Roberts passed away on March 24th at Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veteran’s Home. He was a World War II Veteran born in Sevierville, TN on November 4, 1926, to the late Daniel and Virgie Roberts.

Butler is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Evelyn “Mino” Roberts. He loved and cherished her dearly and he cared for her until death parted them in 2017. Together Butler and Jean set a beautiful example of a loving, humble marriage for all to see, worshipping, praying, studying and holding hands together for almost 70 years of marriage. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Clyde, Benny, and Ralph Roberts.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses: daughter Vickie (Billy), son Ronnie (Victoria), and son Keith (Stephanie). He was affectionately known as Papaw by 8 grandchildren and their spouses as well as 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Butler was blessed to watch his sons and grandsons grow up in the church and witness some preach invitations or sermons. He loved reading the funnies to the grandkids and tell them silly jokes. He also loved watching the Andy Griffith Show, Monk and American Ninja Warrior with his family.

Butler worked at Standard Knitting Mill as a Quality Control Supervisor and retired after 38 years. He then worked at Food City for 30 years until the age of 93 doing what he loved to do: help people. He was well known by the community for his kindness, humility, and contagious smile, and his beautiful soul radiated a bright and shining light for all. He was a member of Sevier County Church of Christ and readily preached many lessons throughout the years. Butler studied the bible daily and was always prepared with an invitation or sermon if needed. He served as an elder in the 90’s and was an overall, Christ-like example for his lineage, family, friends, peers and strangers alike.

II Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing”

Receiving of friends will be held on Thursday, March 30th from 5pm-7pm at Berry Highland South, 9010 Simpson Rd., Knoxville, TN 3792, with a Funeral Service to follow at 7pm. Family and friends will meet at Berry Highland South's Mausoleum's on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 1pm for a Graveside Service with military honors. Officiating is our long-time brother and dear family-friend, Pat Gampp.
