Barbara Jean Hochstedler

Barbara Ginn Hochstedler, age 90, of Maryville, joined in the presence of the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2017. She was deeply devoted to Church Street United Methodist Church, the Murphy Builders Sunday school class and women of Circle #3 for 40 years. She served on the Altar Guild for 18 years and in the library for 4 years. Two of her favorite pastimes were sharing memories of many years on Norris Lake and crocheting for those she loved. At the age of 14, Barbara began a long and devoted career as a printer in the newspaper industry. For over 40 years she worked for the daily papers in Anderson and Indianapolis, Indiana as well as the Knoxville News Sentinel. She is preceded in death by husband, Jesse Lee Hochstedler and survived by son, J (Mittie), daughter, Connie (Jimmy), and granddaughters Lindsay, Stephanie (Will), and Meg. Family and friends will gather at Church Street United Methodist Church on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, with a memorial service to follow. A graveside service will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery on Saturday, January 28, at 11:00am.
