Cornett, Barbara Jean Adams, age 65, of Knoxville, TN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday. She is a member of Cumberland Baptist Church, where she was a children’s Sunday School teacher. She was a retired pre-school teacher of Cokesbury Children’s Center, Wallace Memorial Children’s Program, and Cumberland MDO, where she lived out her calling to educate and touch the lives of children for over 30 years. Barbara was a mentor with Kids Hope USA, a missionary to Santiago, Chile, and to children of Appalachia through Mission of Hope.
Preceded in death by her father, Eugene Franklin Adams; brother, Franklin Adams; grandmother, Agnes Edvina Chapman.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Cornett; her stepson and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Cindi Gillars, grandchildren, Kendra Gillars and Cameron Davis; her daughter, Vedra Proaps-Abouchane and grandson Seth Proaps; her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Amy Cornett, and grandchildren, Katie Fuller and Austin Leek; her mother, Marjorie Adams, her brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Anita Adams; nephew, John Michael Adams; her brother-in-law, Terry Cornett; all her Cumberland Church family, and friends from all over the world via Facebook.
