Just want you to know that I'm thinking of you and Bill today.  I know how hard it is to follow the path of loss.  Especially the year following his death.  All the firsts that come up.  All the tears that it brings.
All the moments that we've lost. It's hard.  I know.  
Try to concentrate on the good memories and the love you shared with him.  Remember the smiles; the joyous times.
Bill will always be with you in those memories.
Take care of your fragile hearts.  Fill them with love.

My favourite memory of Bill was at one of the Reidels' funerals. It was a very rainy day out at the cemetery. I must have been about 12 years old and Bill came over with an umbrella, put his arms around me and kept me warm and dry.  We always remember someone's kindness and Bill comforted me that day.

Mr. Reidel was my grade 7 teacher. He had a profound impact on my life. His love and passion for grammar was a foundation for my writing skills and passion for reading. He was the perfect combination of being fun and firm. On several occasions I had to buy bubblegum for the whole class because I had been caught chewing gum in class (which was not allowed). It sounds like his passions and love for family were abundant. Thank-you for sharing him and know that he will be fondly remembered and cherished.


My condolences to Mike and her entire family.  I knew Bill quite well from our teaching years at St. Benedict C.S.S.  He was a kind, caring, and hard working educator and I am proud to say that Bill and I were professional colleagues.

Dear Mike and Family
We are so sorry to hear of Bill's passing.  He was a good, kind man.  
I'll always remember the old Bill and his "jolly" ways.  Always a smile for everyone.
My parents, Pat and Mike Reidel, enjoyed bumping into Bill while out and about too.   Mother and I agreed that Bill gave the best bear hugs
Bill was the first student teacher I ever had.  I was in grade school and he showed up in our classroom on his first practicum.  I was so excited to have him there and he was so relieved to see a familiar face. It was a special week for both of us and a good memory for me.
He will be missed.

I remember a big brother who took me to 'The Lanc' for my first legal drink, took me to the drive-in along with Diane to see Gone With The Wind in the back seat of his VW Beetle (not the ideal spot for a 4 hour movie) and also to out of town Dodger games (where I first heard the word biodegradable for chastising him after throwing something on the ground ).

Bill was mostly a kind big brother except when the Habs beat the Maple Leafs. Then he was pure nasty.

R.I.P. Billy.

I worked with Bill at St . Benedict and remember him and his sense of humour. I also remember having a visit and enjoying a good long chat with him in his basement hot tub! So sorry to read of his passing. My prayers and thoughts are with Mike and all of his loved ones.


I have many happy memories of being at the Reidel house in grade school. Bill Reidel was always very hospitable, funny and a pleasure to talk to. I remember we always watched the latest movies at the Reidel house, the Superman series was my favourite. God bless you, xoxo kristi
