Dianne,  my sincere sympathies to you and your family in the loss of your son.  I remember when you talked about  Nathan when we worked together...he was very young then. He looks so much like you, and like a sweet and kind young man... following in his mother's career path. 
May the love of your family and friends and all of the great memories bring you comfort. 

To Nathans mom,  dad and sister; family and friends, my sincerest condolences. Nathan and my son David met in residence in Guelph( Lanark).  Then Nathan and David moved to Yewholme street, the second year there;  becoming the two cellar dwellers!   I met Nathan briefly in the driveway one evening at your home, picking up something that Nathan had stored for David over the summer  (I can’t remember what) but from Instagram and  talks with David over the past 4-5 years; I “knew” this young man whom David considered a very dear friend!  We are all devastated with and for you, and we will hold those memories of Nathan close and treasure them. May time heal and your memories keep you strong. Davids Mom! Winnipeg, Manitoba. 

As a suitemate Nathan was a kind and funny person who made living together easy. We will never forget when we watched him play expert on guitar hero to the hardest song for the first time without missing a beat. We are deeply sorry for Jess and the family to experience the pain of a loss like this.

What a tragic loss...although I only met you a few times, you always struck me as a very kind, gentle person, and it was so clear that you adored my niece. You will be greatly missed!


My name is Brandi and I'm Jessica's stepmom.   Nathan was a huge part of our lives, was one of the first people to meet our two youngest children and he was an amazing person to everyone in our home.  I loved talking to him about music that we both enjoyed.  I remember he was at our home one day doing school work and I heard Rage Against the Machine playing, and ran downstairs to tell him to turn it up, we then talked for a good hour or so (I likely kept him from getting work done that day) about all the bands we liked and ones we wanted to see live.  Our home will not be the same without him, and we miss him very much.   Thank you to his wonderful parents for their kindness towards Jessica, especially during this trying time.

Nathan was a much loved nephew to my husband, Chris and I. We have watched him grow up from a very cute little baby to a lovely, caring, handsome young man. It has been our privilege to be a part of this life. Our hearts are broken. 
My last memory of Nathan will be two lovely hugs I gave him on Thanksgiving Day. He was never much of a hugger but would put up with hugs from his Aunt Linda. Bless him.

As many of the others here have posted, I had the opportunity to meet Nate through online gaming. 

Words can not express the loss that our community has felt in the days since his passing. However, they also can not begin to express the sense of family that Nate inspired in his absence. 

Nate was the epitome of a great person, player and friend. He was the foundation of so many fantastic experiences. Though he probably didn’t hear it enough, I can only hope Nate knows the impression that he left behind on our community of fellow gamers. 

Nate, you will forever have a place along side us. Rest easy brother.

I met Nate through a video game about a year ago, we bonded really well together, we talked a lot online he was such a humble funny guy, it saddens me I will never hear his voice again. You could always rely on Nate if you had any problems and he would always be there for you. My deepest condolences to your family and friends.

I had the honor of knowing Nate through video games online. As his obituary stated, he was an avid gamer. Nate was a large part of our community online and he developed lots of friendships with those around him over the year he's been in our community. It's rocked our community to hear of the news, I still can't believe he isn't going to log in or there won't be another opportunity to game too late into the night. I always underestimated the connections I'd make with someone who shared the passion of the same video game I did. You've taught me to cherish those I interact with more.

I am really trembled when I heard this news. Life is unpredictable. I remembered when I first talked to Nathan when I first joined Master's as an international student in Fall 2020. He talked to me in a very caring and  friendly way so that I forget loneliness.  He was intelligent, caring, joyful and kind persona. My deepest condolences and sympathy to the nearest  family members and loved ones.  Rest in Peace Nathan. 

I had the pleasure of working alongside Nathan throughout my time at the University of Guelph. Nathan was an intelligent individual who was always eager to learn more. I want to extend my deepest condolences to Nathan's family and friends during this difficult time. 

Nathan was an incredibly caring, intelligent, and overall amazing individual. It was a pleasure to be around and be part of his life. Nathan was one of the smartest individuals I knew. When our advisor was busy, I would always ask Nathan and he made it look easy. Rest in peace Nathan, thank you for everything. 

We will truly miss Nathan every day in Guelph Geography. This is a tragic loss of a young and vibrant person. Our research group is better for the time that he spent with us. My thoughts and condolences are with Nathan's family in this time of shared loss.
