Passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2015 at Sunnyside Home, at the age of 88. Predeceased by her husband Laimonis. Loving mother of Silvija Smith, Russ Lawson, Ingrid Diamond and Wes Worsfold. Cherished Grandmother to Todd Diamond and Angela and Wilson Smith and Adrienne and Great Grandmother to Halle Diamond. Dear sister to Gaida Lazdins and loving family. Throughout her life Maija found joy helping new Canadians find employment in her role at Human Services Canada and spending time with family and friends at the family cottage in Point Clark. She had a great passion for gardening, painting and cooking. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Special thank you to the Nurses, PSWs and staff at Sunnyside Home for their special care given to Maija.
