January 8, 2022, at the age of 65, at Freeport Hospital, after a short but brave battle with
stomach cancer.
Jai was born in Triumph Village, East Coast Demerara, Guyana, to the late Mohabir "Isaac" and
Sukhranie Mangal. He was the youngest brother of 8 siblings, the late Alfred "Bobby" Mangal,
the late Baljit "Booker" Mangal (Bibi), Shirley Singh (Deo), the late Jaikaran "Budso" Mangal
(Eunice), Basdeo "Kenneth" Mangal (Anna), Taikchand Mangal (Lila), and Devika Mangal
Rajaballey (Rudy).
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Mangal, his
children, Melissa Mangal-Chakra (Danny) and Sasha Mangal, his sisters and brothers, nieces
and nephews, and his many relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at both Grand River Hospital and the
Freeport Palliative Care Unit for their efforts and care over the last 8 weeks.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, those who wish to express sympathy consider
making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in Jai's name.
A visitation for Jai will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa Street South, Kitchener, Ontario N2E2X5.
