Heinrich Becker

Peacefully passed on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at St. Mary’s General Hospital, two weeks after celebrating his 84th birthday. He was born in Alsónána, Hungary, before moving to West Germany and eventually settling in Canada. Predeceased by his wife Katharina (June 17, 1993), he will be dearly missed by Dagmar Voss, his beloved partner of 17 years. The loving father of three sons and extended family; Henry (Tena), Frank (Lisa) and Michael (Margaret-Ann), Elaine Poyntz (Doug), Claudia Becker, Roger Voss (Laurie) and the late Andrew Voss (Leona). Dear Opi to grandchildren Jason (Jenna), Bradley (Shannon), Shawn (Kristina), Amanda (Matthew), Andrew (Chloe), Kyle (Breanne), Mathew and Katie, Chanelle and Tyler Seguin, Matthew and Julia Voss. Great-grandfather of Bryce, Noah, Sydney, Aimee, Brooklyn and Isaiah. Heinrich, “Chief”, moved from Germany with the learned trade of cabinet-making before expanding into building houses and establishing his own business, Henry Becker and Sons. He took pride in building homes for his family and the expanding community around Kitchener/Waterloo. He was a gentle and kind man who loved his family and will be sadly missed. The Becker Family will receive friends at the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa Street S., to Celebrate Heinrich’s Life on Wednesday, June 21, from 5-9 p.m. Private burial will be at St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Mannheim. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary’s Hospital, Cardiac Care Unit would be greatly appreciated.
