Mr Elmer Walter Young

The family of Elmer Walter Young is saddened to announce his death at The Village of Riverside Glen, on January 19, 2012 in his 98th year.

Dearly beloved husband and best friend of Margaret (2008), loving father of Robert (Ruth) Young and Dianne (Allan) Beirnes. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Craig (Teresa), Jeff (Elizabeth), Janet (Matt) and Heather Young, Sean (Claudine), Kelly (Jen) and Ryan (Beverley) Beirnes, Andrew (Leah) and Charles (Lee) Tepperman; his great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brittany, Ethan, Joshua, Ashley and Isabella Young; Jacquelyn and Ethan Bouche; Chiara, A.J., Cayden and Madeleine Beirnes; Benjamin, Claire, Gabriel and Laurel Tepperman; Amelia Farrell; and his many nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud. The family will mourn his passing and cherish the many wonderful memories of his life.

Predeceased by his parents Walter and Mabel; brothers J.D., William and Harland; sisters Lauretta, Margaret and Edith.

Elmer enjoyed a varied career of 42 years in education as a teacher, principal and superintendent. He was a member and elder of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kitchener, a member of Norfolk Masonic Lodge #10 since 1939, a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association and of the Retired Business and Professional Men’s Club.

The family extends heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. Kotalik, caregivers and the exceptional staff at The Village of Riverside Glen, for their understanding and compassionate care. Special thanks go out to his treasured friends who visited regularly and added so much pleasure to his life.

A private family committal service will be held at Parkview Cemetery.

A memorial service to celebrate Elmer’s life will be held at Ratz and Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener, ON, February 2, 2012 at 1:00 pm.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated
