Peacefully, at Freeport Hospital on Sunday, July 7, 2024, Dennis (Denny) passed from this life into the greater one, in his 91st year.
Denny was born March 12, 1934 at his maternal grandparents’ home in Preston, Ontario. He attended elementary schools in Preston and Kitchener and high school at KCI Secondary School. He obtained his B.A. from Waterloo College in 1957. After 3 years at Huron College, London, he graduated with his Bachelor of Theology degree in 1961. That same year, he was made a deacon of the Anglican Church of Canada, Diocese of Huron, taking on the position of Assistant Curate to the late Canon R. P. Appleyard at St. John’s Church, Preston for 2 years. He was ordained a priest of the Anglican Church in 1962.

In 1968, he began writing and publishing his weekly Sermon Notes. Clergy from various denominations and countries subscribed to these liturgical outlines for over 28 years. During this entrepreneurial period in his life, he also founded and operated a photography business. Over the years, he was hired to take thousands of photographs of minor sports teams, weddings, and dance students attending his Aunt Elsie’s studio, The Ewald Academy of Dancing. Dennis was also a member of the Canadian Authors Association, and enjoyed writing stories, poetry, articles, prayers, and personal historical works.
