Arthur Alexander Mills

August 6, 1934 – July 10, 2023

It is with great sadness his family announces that Art passed away on Monday, July 10th at Chartwell Westmount LTC, Kitchener, Ontario, just days from his 89th birthday.

Arthur was born in Hardwicke, New Brunswick to Jasper and Sarah Mills and was predeceased by them as well as his sister Margaret Lutes (Harvey) and brother John Mills (Gwen). Survived by nephews David and Don Lutes, Sandy Mills and niece Peggy Hayes.

Leaving to mourn his passing is his wife Enid who would have celebrated with him, on August 4th, 67 years of their happy marriage. Also sadly missing their father is daughter Connie and son Rick (Sheila). “Grandad” will be remembered and missed by his grandchildren Ashley, Jena, Reid, Ellen and Brent and great-grandchildren Brody, London and Leora.

Art was a caring gentleman who devoted his life to his family, community and his employer Royal Bank from where he retired in 1992 after 41 years of service. He began his banking career in Moncton, New Brunswick and served in many positions in New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario and finally retiring in Winnipeg, Manitoba as a VP Corporate Banking.

Enid and the children took all the moves in stride for which Art was always grateful. In every location, Art was soon involved with church, service clubs and community organizations. He was an active member of Rotary, Probus, Lions, Kiwanis and Kinsman Clubs over the years. He was a board member of the KW Symphony, Manitoba Opera and several churches.

Cremation has taken place according the Art’s wishes and a celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, August 1st at 11:00 am in the chapel of Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900). The service will be viewable via livestream at https://fweb.tv/105252 . Reception to follow.
