Mrs. Margaret Keyser Johnson, 90, of Kissimmee, FL and formerly of Bartow, FL, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012. Born June 9, 1921 in Westerville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Shirley Thornton Keyser and the late Gertrude Crossen Keyser. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Charles Worth Johnson whom she married September 27, 1942. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Keyser and Jack Keyser.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Howard T. and Diane Johnson of The Villages, FL and Bruce W. and Debbie Johnson of Willow Springs, MO; her grandchildren, Deneen (Craig) Walters of Las Vegas, NV, Dennis Johnson of Olathe, KS, Daniel (Beckie) Johnson of Raleigh, NC, and Howard (Heather) Johnson, Jr. of Overland Park, KS; 4 great-grandchildren; her brother, William Keyser of Palm Desert, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Westerville High School and the Franklin Business College where she majored in accounting. She had previously been employed with the Westerville Creamery in Westerville, OH. Once she and her husband moved to Florida, Mrs. Johnson became employed with Nunez and Sons, CPA in Bartow, FL; Dolime Minerals Co. in Bartow, FL; and Lake Garfield Nursery in Bartow, FL.
As a long-time resident of Bartow, FL, Mrs. Johnson had been a member the McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Crickette Club. She was also very active since moving to Kissimmee and to The Good Samaritan Society – Kissimmee Village where she was a member of the Sunshine Auxiliary. Mrs. Johnson was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Kissimmee.
The family also celebrates that Mrs. Johnson was a 21 year survivor of colon cancer. Therefore, the family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1920 South Florida Ave., Lakeland, FL 33803.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the mausoleum chapel of Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in the chapel of The Good Samaritan Society – Kissimmee Village.
