Marion Winnifred Taylor

Mom was born and grew up in Whitewood, Saskatchewan. She chose teaching as a career, and attended “Normal School” in Moose Jaw. She received a lot of teasing from her grandchildren about having to go to school to become “Normal”! Mom met the man of her dreams, Sid Taylor, while teaching at Meadow Lea School. They were married on October 9, 1954, and mom moved to the Circle T Ranch to become a Rancher’s wife. Mom looked after the accounts for the Ranch, ran the house and cooked amazing meals for her growing family and visitors.

After the Ranch was sold in 1969, Sid and Marion moved to Kipling for a number of years and then retired to Whitewood. Mom enjoyed her time in Kipling, joining the Kipling Museum Ladies Auxiliary and St. Michael’s Anglican Church. She loved curling and watched it on TV in her later years.

Mom and dad wintered in Southern California where mom took painting lessons and became quite an accomplished artist. Each family has some of her cherished works of art.

In 2015, mom and dad moved into Willow Height Estates to be closer to family. However, within a year, health issues forced them to move to a Care Home in Broadview. After Sid’s passing in 2020, Marion returned to Kipling and resided in the Long Term Care at the Kipling Integrated Health Centre.

Marion was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Sid, and her sister, Georgina Lambert.

Mom will be missed by her children, Pat Widdup and husband Eric; Gary Taylor and wife, Petra; Pam Francis and her partner, Grant White; and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Joe Widdup, Carl and Theresa Widdup and daughter Winnie, Ellen Widdup and husband Aaron Strank; Leslie and Ben Wilson and daughter Brooke, Kyle Taylor and Mary Marshall; Loretta and Cam Campbell and daughters Aria and Samantha, Leslie and Tina Francis and sons Dominic and Lars, Grant and Tricia McDorman, son Jordan, daughter Kayla. Also surviving Marion is her brother Philip Lowe and nephew Michael Lambert and niece Nicole Matheson.

The family wishes to thank all the wonderful, caring, supportive staff at the Long Term Care Home in Kipling. We gratefully acknowledge the respect, patience and compassion shown by them all.

A joint celebration of life for mom and dad was held in the Kipling United Church on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Lynette Callfas officiating. A luncheon followed the celebration in the Friendship Center. A private interment was held in Lansdowne Memorial Gardens.
