He is survived by his daughter, Michele Glaze and son Scott Fleming; along with his grandchildren Andrew and Shelby Glaze, Tyler, Carson, Eric Fleming, sisters Judith (Lloyd Searcy) Fleming and Barb (Ashley) Long, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his wife Kathleen Fleming and his parents, Gordon and Anna Fleming.
An electrician by trade, Don worked for Sask Power for his entire career and was known around Kipling as the go to “power guy” for many years. A jack of all trades, Don was a skilled machinist, carpenter, mechanic and so much more. He could often be found in his garage or in his shop building his latest creation or getting ready to travel to the next engine show. Don enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle with his cousins and various friends over the years. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and he enjoyed attending their various sporting events and performances. In fact, after scouring through years worth of photo albums, the best pictures of Don are when he is holding and playing with his grandkids.
Michele and Scott would like to give a special thank you to Don Holloway for all the support and friendship over the years, particularly in this last year since Kathleen’s passing. Not all heroes wear capes!
We are so grateful for the various healthcare personnel who have cared for our dad in the last few years; from the home care support workers to the staff in Wawota saying thank you hardly seems like enough. To the staff at Kipling Integrated Health Centre, words cannot express how immensely thankful we are for your care. Your team is second to none and the way you cared for our dad, with dignity and respect these last few months and in his last days, as well as the way you also supported us will not be forgotten.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held in the Kipling Friendship Centre once Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted.
Those wishing to do so, may make a memorial donation in Don’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
