Richard Bernard Dudczak, 84, of Kingwood Texas was called home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Richard (Dick) was born March 12, 1939, in Buffalo, New York, the second of four sons of Michael and Rose Dudczak. Dick was a 1958 graduate of Lackawanna High School.
While growing up in Buffalo, Dick enjoyed living near Lake Erie. He loved SCUBA diving, fishing, boating and sometimes he even got his parents’ permission. His sense of adventure was not limited to water, Dick enjoyed hunting, camping, and the occasional drag or motorcycle race (mostly without his parents’ permission). His adventures eventually led him to the love of his life, Kathy Wood. Dick and Kathy were married on January 27, 1962.
Life continued in Buffalo as Dick worked at Bethlehem Steel, while he and his wife Kathy raised their two children. In 1978, the Steel Plant shut down and, in keeping with his sense of adventure, Dick decided to move his family to Houston, Texas. It wasn’t long before Dick was promoted to Project Manager for Johnson Controls over Intercontinental Airport’s mechanical and underground transportation systems. During his career, he taught several seminars for various trade and professional organizations, most of which ended with a round of golf. Dick also served as President of the Association of Chief Operating Engineers (ACOE) in the mid 80’s. Dick retired in 2005 after traveling around the country for three years starting up new project locations for Siemens.
Retirement did not slow Dick down as he continued golfing, enjoying his boat, working as a Marshal at Tour 18, and traveling with the love of his life. He was never without home improvement projects, which were always completed to perfection. On most weekends, you’d find Dick at a dance competition, baseball, softball, or football games cheering on his grandkids. He was always their biggest fan!
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Dudczak of Houston, brother, Roger Dudczak of Buffalo, children, Darrell Dudczak (Laurie) of Houston, Dana Ballou (Tom) of Houston, and grandchildren Ryan Ballou, Michael Dudczak, Colin Gonzales, Sydney Ballou, Ethan Ramey, Alex Ballou, and Kara Dudczak.
He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Rose Dudczak of Buffalo, and his brothers, Michael and Daniel Dudczak of Buffalo.
Services will be held at Second Baptist Church, 22770 US-59 North, Humble Texas 77339 at 1:00 pm on Saturday January 20, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinsons.org/.
