Patricia O'Brien

Patricia Mary O’Brien, age 80, went to be with The Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2014. Born in Boston, Massachusetts to Thomas and Anna B. Norton, she lived a life of service to her family and community. A flight attendant with American Airlines (AA), she married and raised a family in travels through Boston, MA, North Brunswick, NJ, Beaumont and Houston, TX. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Al O’Brien, her 5 children, Gerard O’Brien and his partner Alejandro Lara, Mary Anne Assuncao and her husband Tony, Eileen O’Brien and her husband Jeff Wilkins, Tim O’Brien and his wife Shannon, Chris O’Brien and his wife Corry, and her brother Thomas Norton of Falmouth, MA. She will be greatly missed by her 8 grandchildren including, Brandon Assuncao, Katherine, Sean, Molly, Colleen, Liam, Therese and Colin O’Brien. Nieces and nephews include, Molly, Kerri, Michael and Patrick Norton with cousins including Peter and Kevin Klauer, Michael, Stephen and Phillip Carroll, all residing in MA.

A faith filled Catholic, Pat lived a Christ centered life in fidelity to her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her church. She loved to help people and did that formally as a volunteer in Galveston-Houston’s AIDS Ministry, at Northwest Hospital and Birthright Houston. But behind the scenes she would take care of children, drive cancer patients long distances for treatment and help anyone in need. Pat was a lifelong member of the KIWI Club, an association of former AA flight attendants.

Visitation will be at Kingwood Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martha Catholic Church in Kingwood, followed by a reception in the Family Life Center. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m.
