She is also survived by her twin brother, Paul Christie, and his wife Carol Christie. Linda’s numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews share cherished memories that also include Uncle Tiny.
Linda grew up near apple orchards on Shay Road in Hudson, Massachusetts. She was the beloved Vice President of the Hudson High Class of 1958 where she was the May Queen, and was voted the most friendly, best actress and did “the most” for the Class of ‘58.
After graduating from high school, she became a secretary and loved the clothes, the gossip and the challenges. Following her sense of adventure, Linda was set up with a family friend who needed a date - Albert Fagerquist. The two quickly fell for each other and had a remarkable marriage. He had a knack for saying “yes dear” and the two were an unstoppable team. After having their two sons in the Boston area, they moved to Aruba for the next 10 years.
In Aruba, Linda was very active in making friends, “jumping up” in carnival, playing tennis and volunteering with The Women’s Club and even found time to have a 3rd child. By the time they left Aruba, she and Al were considered locals and truly missed. The adventure continued as the family moved to Kingwood, Texas in 1978 where she excelled at being a wife, a mom, a friend, a gardener, a neighbor, a cheerleader, and so much more.
In 1986, Media Magic became her social outlet. She was called mom by many a mall teenager and was a friend to nearby employees and mall walkers that all benefited from her advice and kind spirit.
Becoming a grandma was her greatest adventure of all. Nothing brought her more joy than making her grandkids happy.
Some of her loves and passions included: gardening, entertaining, traveling, and talking for hours with family and friends. She enjoyed reliving her Aruba casino days with trips to Lake Charles. Linda loved to hunt for bargains and spent much of her time finding just the right trinket, toy, decoration for all of us.
She was a trooper when going through her cancer treatments. She made instant friends of those going through infusion and the nurses all loved her energy and spirit. When radiation gave her a mohawk, she owned it & enjoyed being a “bad-ass” grandma.
As she reflected on her life, she had no regrets and loved the full and meaningful life she had lived and the people that were part of it.
Her family and friends will gather at Kingwood Funeral Home on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. to share memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Women’s Club of Aruba. Please contact Alisa Cancino for details.
