Kathleen (Kathy) Bernadette Frye passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, April 18, after a long illness at the age of 78. Kathy was born in Tom’s River, NJ in 1945, to parents George and Eleanor “Bette” Frye, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended Seton Hall University College of Nursing and served in a variety of nursing fields, including med-surg, post-partum, and finally, as a home-health hospice nurse. She also taught nursing at Middlesex Community College in NJ. Kathy had a deep appreciation for God’s creation which fueled many of her hobbies, including gardening and seashell collection. Most of all, her strongest passion was for the care of animals, to which she dedicated her life as a pet parent of countless dogs and cats over the years. An animal in need was sure to find help when they crossed her path, and would soon find themselves under her care in some way. She also strove to be a loving steward of wildlife as a caretaker of the squirrels and birds that graced her yard, as well as through donations to various nonprofits that care for wildlife and domestic animals alike. Kathy is survived by her loving sister, Maureen Davitt; niece Erin Davies Yedinak and her husband, Nick Yedinak, and daughters Caitlin and Emma Davies; niece Kathleen Davitt; niece Nancy Davitt; and niece Colleen Zavitsky and her husband, Brian Zavistsky, and children Elizabeth Davitt, Craige Lehman, and Michael Zavitsky; “adoptive niece” Michele Bice and her husband Chance and daughter Chloe; as well as numerous cousins across the country. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of her favorite charities, Alley Cat Allies.
