Evelyn Marie Austin

Evelyn was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 22, 1936, to parents Earl and Catherine Ray. She married her childhood friend and sweetheart, Robert Eugene Austin in 1952 and together they raised three children. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years in 2014.

Evelyn loved pets, collecting dolls, gardening and caring for her family. She was young at heart for the most magical place on earth, Disney World and made many trips there. Most of all she loved her family and creating precious memories with them. Evelyn also enjoyed the time she spent with her church family and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and David Childress, of Kingwood and her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kelley Austin, of Navasota. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Shane Childress (Andrea), Kelley Childress Osborne (Justin), Candis Austin Mohr (Matt) and Misty Austin Boyle (Les). She was proud to be called GiGi by her nine great-grandchildren, Shelby Austin and Taylor Austin Stepp, Austin and Adam Long, Kourtlyn and Austen Childress, Ozzy Osborne and Kodi and Kullen Mohr, three great-great-grandchildren Matalynn Whitmore, Jasmine Keene and Kaleb Long.

She is preceded in death by her son Ronnie Austin, grandson David Austin and her sisters, Betty Cresswell and Wanda Heaston.

A Celebration of Life for Evelyn will be announced in the future to be held at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339, followed by a reception.
