Memorial services for David Henry Moss, 83, of Kingwood, Texas will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, May 16, 2022, at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Hwy 59, Kingwood, Texas. Interment will follow at 1:45pm, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.
David was born on December 16, 1938 in Liberty, Texas to parents, Daniel Lee and Lenora (LaCour) Moss and he left on April 27, 2022 in Houston, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving and devoted wife Julie and their three daughters.
He grew up in Raywood, Texas and graduated from Hull Daisetta High School. He then went on to attend Lamar University where he graduated with a BS in Education.
He served during Vietnam as a Captain in the US Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1967. During this time, he met the love of his life, Julie (Haberle) Moss and they married August 21, 1964 in Liberty, Texas.
He was given many accolades in the US Army: Officer Fixed Wing Aviator & Counterinsurgency, Office Fixed Wing Aviator Instruments, Transition Training, and Flight Instructor. As well as many awards: Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Air Medal w/11 Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Bronze Star Medal.
After his Honorable Discharge from the Army he flew for Trans World Airlines (TWA) as a Captain and retired just shy of 30 years of service. Post Retirement – he drove for Northside Lexus for 11 years.
Through their 57 years of marriage, he traveled across the country with Julie, on 2 wheels, 4 wheels and also by Air and Sea, and so very many adventures followed. He loved his family, wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family. He loved cooking, BBQing, and making a big pot of gumbo for the family. He also loved music and dancing with Julie, anytime and anywhere.
He is preceded in death by his parents, DL and Lenora Moss and his sister and her husband, Annye Capps and Dan Jones.
He is survived by his wife Julie (Haberle) Moss. Daughters: Elizabeth Herzer, Susan Moss, and Sharon Walton and her husband David Cottrell. Grandchildren: Louis Herzer, Tyler Herzer, Amanda McCorquodale, Aimee Pimentel and husband Jeremy, Sam Walton and wife Jana, and Max Walton. Great Grandchildren: Kylie McCorquodale, Ashtyn McCorquodale, and Gavin Pimentel.
Honorary Pallbearers: David Jones, David Cottrell, Jeremy Pimentel, Louis Herzer, Tyler Herzer, Sam Walton, Max Walton, and Gavin Pimentel.
