Barbara Lynn Kraus

Barb was born on December 16, 1957 at Lake Charles, Louisiana to parents, H.P Smith and Jean Smith. She passed away September 24, 2022 in Houston, Texas.

Barb and Mark met in early 1979 in Ft. McMurray Alberta, Canada and married later that year in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. From there Mark’s job had them move 5 more times before they moved with their two babies to Kingwood in 1990 where they have remained since.

Barb was a member of the Kingwood Church of Christ. Her Favorite church ministry was the service of preparing meals for those who were ill or in need. She enjoyed spending time and sharing meals with her children, grandchildren, and family. Barb loved getting together with friends and family anywhere, but especially enjoyed entertaining at home.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mark; daughter, Jessica Waltmon (Jonathan); son, Benjamin; grandchildren, Hadley, Jaxon, Troy, and Lincoln of Kingwood; mother, Jean Smith of Lake Charles, LA; brothers and their spouses, Pete (Jackie) Smith of Atascocita, TX, Leslie (Shelly) Smith of Lake Charles, LA, and Steve (Kathy) Smith of Lake Charles, LA. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Jim Kraus; sister-in-law, Kathy Kraus; as well as brothers-in-law and their spouses, Dr. Steven Kraus (Dr. Rachel Barton) of Duncan, British Colombia, and Mike (Kathleen) Kraus of Calgary Alberta; nieces and nephews Molly, Meagan, Sam, Cody, Ethan, Eric, Lauren, Alexis, Cydney, and Samantha.

She is preceded in death by her father, H.P. Smith; sister, Linda Langley; mother-in-law, Darlene Kraus.
