Tom Anderson Cope, 86, passed during the morning hours of Saturday, July 13, 2019, following an extended illness. Tom was born on April 20, 1933 in Clinch Mountain, TN to the late Jesse Wiley & Laura (Drinnon) Cope.
Tom served our country in the United States Air Force. After his service to our country, Tom attended East Tennessee State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He owned and operated his own real estate business, Cope Enterprise for over 35 years. He was a devout Christian and member of Colonial Heights Christian Church. Tom was very passionate about his family; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Virginia Ivadean Cope; daughter, Victoria Lee Traugh & husband Bob; and brother, Jesse Riley Cope.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, Fred Cope & wife Darla; daughter, Rachel Pace & husband Gregory; caring wife of 24 years and mother to Rachel, Marsha Enix; four grandchildren, Tommy Larkin, Todd Larkin, Laura Larkin, and Dianne Cope; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the chapel at East Lawn Funeral Home.
Tom will be laid to rest on Thursday (July 18, 2019) in the Garden of Peace at East Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Stan Leonard officiating. Committal services will be private.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his three great-grandchildren, Robbie, Jordan, and Max with which he enjoyed special visits. The family would like to express their gratitude for all the love and compassionate care that was given to Tom.
