Robert E. Doty
Robert E. Doty age 87 of Fall Branch, TN., passed away April 4, 2010 at Holston Valley Medical Center after an extensive illness.
Robert was born September 2, 1922 in Riverside, California to Gilford and Viola Doty. He moved to Kingsport in 1960 but has resided in Fall Branch, TN. for the last 30 years. Robert retired from Eastman Kodak Company after 44 years of service as a maintenance supervisor. He was a veteran of the United State Army, Company C, 44th Armored Infantry Battalion during World War II, having served under General George Patton in the European Theater. During the Normady Battle of the Bulge he was awarded the silver and bronze star. He was a member of Kingsport Masonic Lodge # 688, F & AM, York Rite and a Jericho Shriner. The Liberty Chapter Order of The Eastern Star #198. He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 5 sister and 5 brothers.
Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Lorraine Doty of the home. Daughter Brenda Cates and husband Dennis, Greeneville, TN and step-son, J. Wayne Greene, Chuckey, TN. Step-grandchildren, Chelsea, Donna Buckner and Dean Cates. Several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 5 -7 PM at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Pastor Bob McNew, officiating. Military Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM in East Lawn Memorial Park conducted by The American Legion Color Guard. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:15 AM. Pallbearers will be Bill Allen, Bill Sandidge, Bill Craddock, Bruce Austin and Steve McDonald. Honorary pallbearers are Keener Depew, Tom Shanks, T. McDonald, Bill Cox, Willis Hawkins -and special friend Sam Rawls.
