Ralph Boyd Hawkins, 77, of Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2016 at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport. Born on December 3, 1937 in Hiltons, VA, he was the son of the late Emily Ayers and Milburn Hawkins. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1957. He was the owner of Tri-City Bonding Company in Kingsport and Hawkins Construction and Excavating Company.
In addition to his parents, Milburn Hawkins and Emily Ayers, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Jean Hawkins Rogers; sisters, Patsy Collins, Maggie Maxwell, Grace Fugate, Etta Haynes and Annis Rimer; and brothers, James Carlos Hawkins, Wesley Hawkins, Emmitt Hawkins and Halbert McCraw. He is survived by his wife of 57 and a half years, Ina Nell King Hawkins; children, Ivan Burton Hawkins and his loving companion, Pat Fisher; Arlene Brice and her husband, Allen; Rachel Livesay and her husband, Dewayne; Gail Murray and her husband, Carl; and Rena Christian and her husband, Tim; 12 grandchildren, Shong Hall, Kenny Pugh, Victoria “Vicki” Hawkins, Wesley Rogers, Adam Hawkins, Matt Hall, Josh Murray, Eric Murray, Sarah Sutherland, Caleb Sutherland, Lacey Brice and Amrick Christian; 15 great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, James White; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 3, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with the Reverend Ronnie Horne and the Reverend Kyle Falin officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hiltons, VA. Serving as pallbearers are Mr. Hawkins’ grandchildren.
