Patricia Ann Hay passed away during the evening hours of Sunday (May 6, 2018) at Holston Valley Medical Center with her loving family & many friends by her side. Patricia was born on January 4, 1945 to the late Stanford Harmon & Bonnie Estelle (Grizzle) Counts in Haysi, VA.
Patricia loved taking pictures, traveling, and loved her family. Patricia was a school bus driver for Sullivan County Schools as well as Tri-City Christian Schools. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday school at Victory Baptist Church and Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. She was a current member of Calvary Baptist Church in Castlewood, VA. Patricia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her father, Patricia was preceded in death by her son, Darren William Hay; and brother, Conrad Counts.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 54 years, Ira “Mac” MacArthur Hay; two sons, Brian Preston Hay & wife Michele and Ira Hay, Jr. & wife Leyla; two daughters, Lydia Hay Starnes & husband Marcus and Jennifer Hay Helton & husband Travis; mother, Bonnie Estelle Counts; sister, Cheryl Barnett & husband David; brother, Roger Counts & wife Evie; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday (May 10, 2018) from 5 to 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Leonard Ferguson and Pastor David Harrison officiating. Special music will be provided by the Victory Voices.
Patricia will be laid to rest on Friday (May 11, 2018) at 11 a.m. in the Garden of Gethsemane at East Lawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Cole, James, Patrick, Marcus, Travis and Conner. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Shaw, Jay Powers, Timothy Hay, and Joshua Hay.
