Larry Orville Ford, 64, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at the Indian Path Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 6, 1951 in Sullivan County, Tennessee, the son of the late Orval Ford and Annlee Pratt Ford. Mr. Ford grew up in Hawkins County, Tennessee, and was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed farming, especially with his grandson. He was retired from Sears Automotive Center, and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ford was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Ford; his brother, Freddie “Shug” Ford, who was killed in Vietnam; and a sister, Judy Ford. Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Dicey Ford; one daughter, Brandy Ford; two stepsons, Bill Oakes and Tim Oakes and wife Kim; six grandchildren, Aaron Oakes, Kaitlin Oakes, Tyler Oakes, Peyton Oakes, Breanna Long and Taylor Long; one great granddaughter; two sisters, Edna Gibbons and husband Larry, and Joan Hensley and husband Earl; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Ervin and Elizabeth Taylor, Joe Mills and wife Gwen and Herbert Mills and wife Lena; his favorite niece, Beth Grantham; and two special nephews, John Mills and Bryan Mills. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Bloomingdale Baptist Church, 3220 Bloomingdale Pike, Kingsport, TN. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Larry Orval Ford will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2:00pm at Bloomingdale Baptist Church with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating.
