James Murrel Byington

James Murrel Byington, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 18, 2023. He was born March 4, 1937 to Neal and Paralee Byington in Surgoinsville, Tn. A lifelong resident of Kingsport, he worked for Service Master and was self-employed as a painter. He loved fishing, bird watching, cookouts, and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his wife Billie Jean Byington, daughter Tammy Nottingham, father Neal Moses Byington, mother Paralee Tate, brothers Earl Byington, Roy Byington, and M.C. Byington.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Fred Byington (Sandra), Randall Byington (Rhonda), Donna Lowry (Joe), Roger Byington (Donna), Rodney Byington (Anissa), Fran Elliott (Mike), Myshell Miller (Bob), siblings Helen Ruth Maine, Barbara Morelock (Paul), Joyce Christian, Willie Byington, Neal Byington (Sue), Harold Byington (Misty), Gladys Fletcher, 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Roger Byington, Rodney Byington, Hunter Byington, Brody Byington, Jeremy Woods, and Ben Weakley.
