Jackie Sue Arwood, 79, of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday (January 26, 2019) surrounded by her husband and her children. She was born on January 5, 1940 at Holston Valley Hospital, and resided in Kingsport her entire life.
Jackie graduated in 1958 from Blountville High School, where she was crowned 1955 Blountville High School Basketball Queen. She then completed Whitney School of Business. She was initially employed at J.T. Parker Insurance Agency, and then later became a homemaker and operator of the family business, Midway Service and Grocery for several years. She was a life-long member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and enjoyed working with the church’s Keenager (senior) program. Jackie will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, and someone who never met a stranger.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Dan & Kathleen Sizemore of Kingsport.
Jackie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Glenn Arwood; daughter, Kathie Arwood; son, Danny Arwood; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday (February 4, 2019) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sunnyside Baptist Church (406 Cooks Valley Road Kingsport, TN 37664). Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Roy Graves officiating.
Committal services will be held Tuesday (February 5, 2019) at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park (800 Truxton Drive Kingsport, TN 37660). Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Daniell, Johnny Morelock, Freddy Doran, Doug Arwood, Harry Morgan, Virgil Hall, and Roger Sizemore. Honorary pallbearers will be Costa Geros, Paul Morelock, Jeff Necessary, and Paul Necessary.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sunnyside Baptist Church c/o building fund (406 Cooks Valley Road Kingsport, TN 37664).
