Carl Wayne Bethany, 71, entered into the arms of Jesus during the evening hours of Monday (July 6, 2020). Wayne was born on July 21, 1948 in Kingsport, TN to the late William & Beulah (Sampson) Bethany.
Wayne unselfishly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He attended Living By Faith Church. He enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Wayne was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great great-grandfather, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a step-son, Samuel Proffitt; two brothers, Harold and Fred Bethany; and two sisters, Peggy Ramey and Pauline Bethany.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dorothy Bethany; two step-sons, Michael Proffitt & wife Debbie and William Proffitt & wife Mary; three step-daughters, Deborah Haynes, Mary Waterman & husband David, and Delores Miller; eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday (July 10, 2020) from noon to 2 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel at East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Harless and Rev. Mike Adams. Special music will be provided by Rev. Miky Reed.
Wayne will be laid to rest on Friday (July 10, 2020) at 3 p.m. in the Garden of Hope at East Lawn Memorial Park. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Posts 3/265. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Miller, Miky Reed, Daniel Hyder, Steve Ramey, Jeff Bethany, and Chris Proffitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Cumbow and Tanner Gross.
