Blanche Fleming Bowman, 95, entered into the loving arms of Jesus during the afternoon hours of Tuesday (January 8, 2019) with her family by her side following an extended illness. Blanche was born on July 6, 1923 in Clintwood, VA to the late Jonas & Ada (Johnson) Fleming.
Blanche enjoyed quilting, gardening, and being outdoors. Blanche was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Ernest Bowman; son, Carroll Bowman; step-mother, Bernice Fleming; and three brothers, Palmer, Jay, and Harold Fleming.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Dennis Bowman & wife Lois; daughter, Connie Powers & husband Steven; brother, Harry Fleming & wife Kay; sisters, Nell Owens and Janice Rowlett & husband Jim; seven grandchildren, Susan Vermillion, Carolyn Webb & husband Ted, John Bowman & wife Katina, Todd Powers & wife Misty, Neil Powers & wife April, Jessica Jenson & husband Matt, and Jackie Petrutis & husband Justin; 10 great-grandchildren, Drew, Dakota, Elliott, Evangeline, Joanna, Rebekah, Alyzabeth, Madelynn, Ava, and Emma; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday (January 11, 2019) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Jennings officiating.
Committal services will be held on Saturday (January 12, 2019) at noon at Fleming Family Cemetery in Clintwood, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church (154 Anco Place Kingsport, TN 37664).
