Beulah Jessee McDavid, 83, was greeted by her heavenly Savior on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Holston Valley Medical Center. Mrs. McDavid was born on January 16, 1932 in Morristown, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Earl Coffey and Hazel Hood Coffey. She was one of fourteen children and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age. She sang in a gospel quartet with her siblings. She retired from Oscar Mayer in Chicago, Illinois, after thirty years of service. After retirement she moved back to Kingsport to be with her family and she was so proud of the love and closeness of her large family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDavid was preceded in death by first husband and father of her children, Marvin Jessee and her second husband, Alvin McDavid; son, Danny Lynn “Sam” Jessee; brothers, Bill Coffey, Richard Coffey and J.K. Coffey; sisters, Mae Johnson, Mary Jo Kinsler, and Angie Tonker; and special sister-in-law, Beverly Coffey.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Charlene) Jessee, Debbie (Gary) Keene and Della (Randy) Bishop; five grandchildren, Tabitha (Davy) Ford, David (Rebecca) Jessee, Matthew (Hannah) Jessee, Carissa Jessee and Brad Bishop; seven great grandchildren, Jessee, Anna Claire, Caroline, Olive, Gideon, Devin and Lilly; brothers, Roy Coffey and E.J. Coffey; sisters, Pat (Buddy) Barrett, Faye (Nolan) Coffman, Judy (Charles) Meeks, Ruth (Charles) Dove, and Ruby Short; a host of nieces and nephews; special brother-in-law, Chuck (Rose) Jessee; and special friends, Pat Overbay, Darlene Shoemaker and Shirley Pyle.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 2, 2015 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Mrs. Beulah Jessee McDavid will be held Monday, February 2, 2015 at 7:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Al South officiating. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 1:00pm in the Garden of Prayer at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Davy Ford, Gary Kinsler, Tony Kinsler, Shane Frost, Chris Coffey, Ronnie Coffey and Larry Coffey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Kinsler, Rick Kinsler, Dennis Housewright and Hunter Housewright. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Beulah Baptist Church, Building Fund, 491 Beulah Church Road, Kingsport, TN 37663. Mom we miss you, but we know where to find you!
