Betty Jo Scott, 88, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. She was born to John Perry and Elizabeth Fugate Roller on July 13, 1930 on a farm in the Fall Creek area. The second daughter of a large family, Betty Jo learned how to work and care for others that lasted a lifetime.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jimmie Lee Greene and Thelma Humphreys, and son Michael Scott.
Betty Jo started her education at Woodrow School and graduated a Forty Niner from Blountville High School in 1949. Betty Jo worked for many years at Mason Dixon in data processing and enjoyed reunions held for former employees. She finished her career with A&L contractors within the Eastman Company.
Betty Jo loved her family and the many friends she made. She enjoyed camping with her family for many years with the Holiday Rambler camping club. She loved to make quilts and embroidered squares that she learned from her mother and carried on with her cousin Mildred. In her retirement years, she loved going with her sisters to estate sales and auctions. Betty Jo loved being a Mammaw most of all and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Jeffery Scott and wife Becky; daughter, Ann Fleenor; four grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; her siblings: Kate Christian, Jessie Mae Richardson, Fred Roller, John Roller and Roy Roller and their spouses.
The family will share the love of Betty Jo with a visitation on Friday, May 31, 2019 at East Lawn Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00pm with funeral services following at 2:00pm with Pastor Roy Graves officiating.
Betty Jo will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Emory Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bryan Cross, Kevin Scott, and Jordan Fleenor, and her brothers, Fred Roller, John Roller, and Roy Roller.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emory Church Cemetery Fund, 425 Emory Church Road, Kingsport, TN 37664.
