Barbara Jean Lavender

June 14, 1947 – December 1, 2024

Barbara Lavender of Kingsport, TN passed away December 1, 2024 at home after an extended illness. She was born in Orange, NJ to the late Robert and Grace Young. Barbara lived in Kingsport over 50 years and was active in her church and community. She volunteered for many years with Small Miracles horseback therapy and served on numerous mission trips around the world.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack Lavender of Kingsport, and her sister, Merry Martin of Oxford, PA. She is survived by her son, Jeff Lavender (and wife Liz) of Waxahachie, TX, and her daughter, Suzy Justice (and husband Matthew) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Ava Justice, Ivy Justice, Keith Lavender, Eden Justice, Joshua Lavender, and Micah Justice; and her sister, Marge Butch of Pembroke Pines, FL.

The receiving of friends will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Sunnyside Baptist Church, 406 Cooks Valley Rd, Kingsport, with a funeral service immediately following. A graveside service will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at East Lawn Memorial Park.
