Alma Lee Hite Dixon, 88, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015, at her residence. She was born on September 24, 1926 in Smyth County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert Washington Odham and Lulzy Mae Overbay Odham. Mrs. Dixon worked for twenty-five years as a Cafeteria Cook for the Kingsport City Schools, mostly having worked at Dobyns-Bennett High School. She was a member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her first husband, J.C. Hite; her second husband, Cecil Dixon; three brothers, Robert Washington Odham, Jr., Harlow Odham and Delbert Odham; and two sisters, Norma Jean Long and Betty Reinbowld.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Ruth Harless and husband Gene, of Gray, TN; two sons, Lonnie Hite and wife Sheila, of Gray, TN and Eddie Hite and wife Karen, of Kingsport, TN; nine grandchildren, Terry Bender, Lisa Richmond, Lori Presnell, Craig Harless, Tina Radtke, Tech Sgt. Joshua Hite, Donavon Hite, Daniel Hite and James Hite; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ima Jo Odham; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the East Lawn Funeral Home or any other time at the home of Lonnie and Sheila Hite. Funeral Services for Mrs. Alma Lee Hite Dixon will be held Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11:00am at the Fort Robinson Baptist Church, 2012 Fort Robinson Drive, Kingsport, TN with Pastor Dustin Allman officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Everlasting Life of East Tennessee Cemetery in Blountville, TN. Pallbearers will be Donavon Hite, James Hite, Tech Sgt. Joshua Hite, Brian Reeves, Daniel Hite, Craig Harless and Tommy Mowdy. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of Wellmont Hospice.
