Rose Ann Quast, age 75 of Mesick, died unexpectedly January 12, 2021 at Munson Medical Center with her loving husband by her side. Rose Ann was born May 30, 1945 in Grant Twp., MI to Theodore and Jennie (Brininstool) Erickson. She attended Grant Center Hill county school being the only student in the 8th grade, and then went on to attend Big Rapids High School graduating in 1963. On February 29, 1964 in Big Rapids, she married Raymond Quast.
Rose Ann worked alongside her husband at their “Friendship Farms” dairy farm as well as packed lunches for workers at Elmer’s for several years. She also worked at Schelde’s restaurant as a prep cook until she retired when she was 62 years old.
Rose Ann enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She had a special friendship with a group of 4 friends lovingly referred to as “Twisted Sisters” and belonged to several quilting groups. She also enjoyed sewing, making quilts and blankets for children, gardening, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and going to yard sales with Raymond. She was a very easy going individual, but was also not afraid to hold her own if necessary.
Besides her husband of 56 years, Raymond, she is survived by her son Paul and daughter Christine Quast. Also surviving are grandchildren Matthew, Ariel Ann, Melody; 3 great-grandchildren, sister Beverly Erickson and brother Larry Erickson. She is preceded by both parents, brothers Theodore “Jr” and LaVail Erickson, and sister Nancy Homister.
Cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Jude Foundation.
