Raymond “Ray” Earl Teston, 69, of Nolanville, TX and longtime resident of DeRidder, LA, passed away peacefully in his home with his family in attendance on April 11, 2018. Ray was born on July 9th, 1948 at home in DeRidder, LA to Thelton “Pappy” Teston and Mamie (Carroll) Teston. Ray is a graduate of DeRidder High School. He attended McNeese State University and was a graduate of Nazarene Bible College.
Ray married the love of his life, Brenda Sue (O’Neal) Teston on June 21st,1968 in DeRidder, LA and together they raised four children; Andy Teston and wife Suzanne of Richardson, TX; Allen Teston and wife Terry of Belton, TX; Amanda Carroll of Nolanville, TX and Alecia Head and husband Michael of Shreveport, LA. He is survived by his wife, his four children, Daughter-in-Law (Shirlene), 20 Grandchildren: Joshua Beattie, Blake & Kayleigh Teston, Jacob Beattie, Katelyn & Andrew Pfundstein, David Teston, Bethany and James Lokey, Ciara Head, Kristin Carroll, Justin Beattie, Lauren Maddox, Benjamin Teston, Jonathan Teston, Bryce Teston, Kimberly Carroll, Savanna Head, Barrett Teston, John-Michael Head, two brothers (Robert and Eddie) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, younger brother, Freddie and two Great-Grandsons, Nolan and Theodore Lokey.
Ray’s passions included his love for his Lord and Savior, his family, and the “Calling.” That “Calling” was to a life of service to the Church of the Nazarene as a Pastor for over 39 years and service to his community as a Law Enforcement Officer for Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Department. Ray was affectionately known as the “Pistol Packing Preacher” and could always be found when someone needed a joke to be told, a cup of coffee to be shared, a child to be held, or prayer to be given. He was the shining example of what it means to live out “Holiness unto the Lord.” He is loved and missed by all whose lives he’s touched.
Family visitation will be Friday, April 13, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Crawford Bower Funeral home in Killeen, TX.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Killeen Church of the Nazarene (Killeen, TX) with graveside service immediately following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery (Nolanville, TX).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Killeen Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
