Mrs. Skaggs died Feb. 20, 2014 at a Temple hospital. She was born January 31, 1946 in Oakland, California to William F Shelton III
and Helen Wilsey Shelton.
She graduated from Kennett (MO.) High School in 1964, and received her bachelor's degree in Interior Design from the University of
Missouri in 1968. She later attended Arkansas State University, receiving her teaching degree in 1972. She taught first grade, serving both Kennett Public Schools and the Killeen Independent School District for 19 years. She and her son William moved to the Killeen area in 1983 after she married Gayle W. "Butch" Skaggs.
Survivors include her husband, Gayle W. Skaggs of Belton; son William Johnson and his wife, Jessie of Austin; Frank and Ann Shelton of
Chattanooga, Tennessee; Sue and Mike Smith of Lynden, Washington; nephews Matthew Shelton and Steve Smith; nieces Adrienne Shelton,
Julie Shelton, and Shelly Smith; and grandchildren Jack Strub and Hazel Johnson.
Her infectious love, energy, positivity, and kindness will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.
