Jerry Lisenbe

Services for Jerry Dewayne Lisenbe, 79, of Killeen, TX will be held on Tuesday, January 24th at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Service celebrating Jerry’s life at 11:00 am. Burial service will be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen at 1:00 pm.

Jerry passed away at his home on Saturday, January 7, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 3, 1943, in Flatt, TX. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from May 1961 until April 1965 where he was awarded the Rifle Expert Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.

Upon his return to Killeen, Jerry went to work for Bob and Velma McAffrey, who had just started a pest control business called Killeen Pest Control. He also briefly worked part-time for Pat Patton at Terrace Grocery Store. The relationship and bond that Jerry formed with the McAffreys remained the influence that would shape and guide his path throughout his adult life. He continued to work with them until 1986 when the McAffreys retired, and Jerry purchased Killeen Pest Control from them. Jerry was the expert in the pest control industry and that expertise allowed him to mentor and pass on his knowledge to many

others. His motto was always “Done Right the First Time”. In 2005, Jerry also partnered with his long-time friend, Jamie Herring on multiple successful home building and development ventures. From the time Jerry was a young boy, he dedicated his entire life to working hard every day to provide a better life for his family.

Jerry was active in his community serving as a member of the TPCA, past-president of the Central TPCA, Killeen Lion’s Club member, and Central Texas Home Builders Association member. He also supported and was very active in the Killeen Junior Livestock Show and the C.R. Clements Boys and Girls Club, sponsoring and coaching little league baseball.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Lisa K. Lisenbe; sons Bradley Lisenbe and wife Stacie, Cory Lisenbe and wife Heidi; grandchildren Stormie Gillespie, Bailey Lisenbe, Katelyn Wong, Kase Wayne and Knox Thomas Lisenbe; brother Charles Lisenbe; sister Vicky Adamson; and numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Frank and John Opal Lisenbe; brothers Jack, Frank, John, and Tommy Lisenbe; sisters Barbara Cunningham, Jayne Dayton, and Dana King.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Right at Home Health Care and Embrace Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided Jerry.

The Lisenbe family and Killeen Pest Control have established an endowed memorial scholarship to honor Jerry’s life and legacy.
